Purchasing departments in the industrial manufacturing sector continue to rely heavily on manual processes. As factories take on more suppliers and face stricter regulatory demands, the administrative workload for procurement teams continues to increase. Without a matching increase in staff numbers, purchasing managers are left overwhelmed by repetitive coordination tasks, leaving little time for strategic decision-making.
Compri, a Milan-based startup launched in 2024 by Edoardo Arbizzi and Edoardo Gava, has developed an AI platform designed to serve as a digital workforce layer inside procurement and supply chain teams. The software takes over the time-consuming administrative tasks required to keep supply chains running smoothly, reducing the workload for teams. The platform centralises data from internal ERP programmes, emails, spreadsheets and PDFs, as well as external regulatory databases, into a single hub. Specialised AI agents, divided into five distinct teams that handle everything from compliance and intake to sourcing and order tracking, then automatically manage routine tasks such as chasing suppliers, collecting paperwork, checking order confirmations and auditing compliance. The entire process integrates with major software systems such as SAP and Oracle and runs on secure, isolated EU-based cloud systems that strictly adhere to GDPR, NIS2, ISO 27001 and the EU AI Act.
Compri has recently closed a €3.2 million seed funding round led by Picus Capital, with backing from Shapers, Italian Founders Fund, DFF Ventures, and individual angel investors. Building on an earlier pre-seed round, the company's total funding now exceeds €5 million. The fresh capital will be used to enhance the software and expand operations into broader European manufacturing hubs.
