Yoshua Bengio, born in Paris, France, in 1964, is a leading figure in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and a pioneer of deep learning. He is a professor at the Université de Montréal and the co-founder and scientific director of Mila (the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms), one of the largest AI research institutes in the world. Bengio completed his Ph.D. in computer science at McGill University in 1991. He has earned widespread recognition, including the prestigious Turing Award in 2018, which he shared with Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun for their pioneering contributions to deep learning.
